Summer is upon us!
Summer is upon us, which means lots of travel and vacationing. And while all the trips are so fun and exciting, it can make it more challenging to stay focused on our nutrition goals while being surrounded by more opportunities to indulge.
But we have good news for you! It IS possible to stay on track with your nutrition while traveling and still enjoy yourself!
Here are tips to help you do so:
- Pack some protein and fiber rich snacks to bring with you: protein shakes/bars, bananas, apples, veggies, tuna packets, hard boiled eggs, beef jerky, etc.
- When ordering out, look for protein and vegetable rich meals.
- Eat slowly and tune into your fullness cues to prevent overeating.
- Share a meal with someone.
- Eat the treat if you want it! And really savor the flavors.
- Focus more on the experience and time spent with loved ones rather than the food.
Remember that one vacation is not going to derail all of your nutrition efforts! What you do most often will dictate your results. Vacations are meant to be enjoyed and for making memories. So be mindful with your choices, nourish your body well and have fun!
